This is a 1992 Fender Precision Plus in black.  22 fret Maple neck (Precision) with fully working truss rod, good action.  The finish is really good for bass of this age, no major dings, but it's not a "mint" bass, either.  Swirls on the back, not even real buckle rash, and some small scrapes on the end of the headstock. Just a nice player.  It has the Lace Sensor P & J pickups.

This bass has been modified. They came from the factory with one volume, tone, and a toggle switch to select the pickup (neck, bridge or both).  I didn't think it was as useful as the current set up of two volumes and the tone. That's how Fender does the current equivalent models.  BUT! I still have the toggle switch, (4th picture, with the neck) and if you are a purist, I'll put it back for you. I'll throw in the couple extra knobs.

The bridge has the micro-tune adjustment (2nd & 3rd pictures). The microtuners have a bit of rust on them.

It is currently strung with Fender Nylon-tape covered strings.  It's been so long, I can't remember whether they were flat or round wound. There is some fret wear, I think about 65-70% of the usable life is left.

Like a lot of older molded cases, the plastic gets tired and it has some holes and a crack at near the butt end. All are visible in the pictures.  The case still protects the bass. 

I've owned this bass for 10 or so years, most of it spent in the case.  I'm 55 and have owned 3 Fenders.  I love the look, love the sound, but don't like the neck feel!  I forget after awhile and have to go buy another one.

The electronics from this body are dated around 1975, pot code 1377518, for example.  I purchased this used from Rocket City Music in TN.  The electronics, pickups, neck plate, etc are not included in this auction, nor is the neck.  The pictures make this body appear worse than it is, due to the finger prints, and impossibility of getting a good photo of a black glossy surface to turn out right to an amateur.  The yellowish tint is not noticeable in person, and is probably the Nitro? clear coat reflection in the photos.  The clear coat has started to get a little gummy in a few places and is creating a sort of relic look.  If you wanted to shine it up like new, I'm sure a few minutes on a buffer would do the trick.  The only other real wear on the front of the body is a little bit of paint rubbed down to the wood on the shoulder contour, and a few dings, as shown in the pics.

The biggest defect is the crack on the bottom of the body, however this is not a concern, because the bridge plate on the back is screwed in a supporting manor. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions on the specifics.  About half of the 2TEK bridge bodies I have seen have this crack.

The best way I can explain the 2TEK bridge is to say that you will have piano-like clarity and amazing tone with a good neck on this puppy.  SUSTAIN for days, as they say.  I didn't believe it until I tried it.  This is by far, the best sounding bass I have ever played.  The only reason I am selling this body is that I have a bad shoulder (recent surgery) and this is a very heavy body.  I think the wood is either Ash or Ader, but I would guess that it is Ash, and the 2TEK bridge is also pretty heavy.  This would be best used as a studio instrument or used with an elastic or neopreme type shoulder strap.

The last Ebay auction from earlier this week saw a 2TEK guitar bridge sold  for 128.87 (link below) and add that on top of the fact that Fender bass bodies of this vintage sell for around my buy it now price, without the bridge and these are usually stripped of the original finish. bridge alone and the last bass bridge I saw sell on Ebay was 800.00, no joke.  The installation can only be done by a well trained luthier, Mike Lull, being one of them. Installation of a 2TEK bridge is around 2-300.00 plus the cost of the bridge, itself.  This is an early one, possible a bass prototype, definetly first generation. If I put it up on Ebay without the body, chances are it would fetch quite a bit.

Return Information


Authorized Return
All returns must first be approved through customer support (see contact information below). All items being returned must include original receipt, with a short note describing the reason for return.

Defective & Damaged Items
We guarantee all our items to arrive safely and free from manufacturer's defects. Defective items, or items damaged in shipping, may be returned within 14 days of receipt for a replacement or full refund. Buyer is responsible for packaging the item according to the specifications of the shipping company (FedEx, UPS or USPS). Items returned to us damaged, and not covered by carrier's insurance (due to improper packaging), will be the responsibility of the buyer. After 14 days, buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. After we receive the returned item, a replacement will be sent at our cost, or a refund of the purchase price will be given.

Non-Defective Items
Items may be returned in original condition within 30 days of receipt for a refund of the purchase price of the item(s) less shipping. Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Items returned in a condition other than "new" (without original packaging, accessories or with obvious wear and tear) are subject to a restocking fee to be determined at the time of receipt. Buyer is responsible for packaging the item according to the specifications of the shipping company (FedEx, UPS or USPS) . Items returned to us damaged, and not covered by carrier's insurance due to improper packaging, will be the responsibility of the buyer.
